Holding Meta Accountable for Racially Discriminatory Advertising practices

A Legal Fight for
Educational Equity & Digital Justice

The Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, Washington Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights and Urban Affairs, and Emery Celli Brinckerhoff Abady Ward & Maazel, filed a lawsuit on behalf of the Equal Rights Center (ERC) against Meta for its discriminatory ad delivery practices. The lawsuit alleges that Meta’s ad delivery algorithms disproportionately steer for-profit college ads to Black users while disproportionately providing white users with ads for public nonprofit universities.

This lawsuit challenges these practices under the D.C. Human Rights Act (HRA) and the D.C. Consumer Protection Procedures Act (CPPA), demanding accountability and fairness in Meta’s digital advertising systems.

A Call for Fair Digital Spaces

This lawsuit seeks fairness in digital advertising, transparency in AI-driven decision-making, and accountability for discrimination by tech companies.
